Euro Summer Essentials
Packing is one of the more stressful parts of preparing to jet set, but if you have these few simple items, you’ll be all set to slip, slop, slap your way across Europe this summer! Now, things like a bikini/budgee smugglers etc are a no brained, so I’m going for more tactical items that can save you room in your suitcase/backpack, and make your trip hassle free! I’ve added links to the specific items I purchased, as well as similar items I found on Amazon to give you a helping hand on your pre-travel shopping. The key to your packing… MULTI-USE items!
Sandals
These Rollie sandals were my absolute life saver. I found a similar vibe from Sketchers on Amazon. Basically, try and find the LEAST ugly pair of super comfortable sandals that you would happily walk 20k’s in, but could also wear out to dinner in the evenings. This was my biggest hack to having minimal luggage, having multi-purpose sandals and runners so I only had two pairs of shoes on the whole trip!
Sneakers
I purchased the Merrell Bravada Waterproof sneakers as my everyday/hiking shoes. They survived a trip to the Sahara Desert, hikes in the mountains of Italy, and even slippery snowy streets of Austrian ski villages. I found a nice alternative on Amazon that tick the same boxes too!
E-Reader
A Kindle Paperwhite is a dream when you don’t have the space for big chunky books. I got one last year and it has been the perfect travel companion! It fits in my shoulder bag so I can take it EVERYWHERE.
Turkish Towel
Now a turkish towel is an absolute essential, it works as a towel in hostels, at the beach, as a little wrap up skirt when strolling the beach like a Baywatch model, or picnic blanket.
Bumbag
Bumbags are another essential. I like to have a large one that can fit my Kindle, phone, water bottle etc so mine usually look quite daggy BUT you can’t go wrong with the classic Uniqlo OR a trendy Carhartt one maybe?!
Travel Adapter
A universal travel adapter is a necessity when you’re hopping between the UK/EU/Asia etc. Having one with all inclusive saves space and general stress of losing one of the many charges you end up carrying around.
Summer Dress
I had one ’frock’ that was perfect for a cute day out in the city, gallivanting in the fields, and to dress up for a nice dinner. As you can tell by now - having EVERYTHING be multi-purpose allows you to really minimise your packing. There are so many to choose from https://amzn.to/457Thu9. Just make sure they’re not a wrinkly fabric - it will make it easy peasy to scrunch up and pack.
Collapsible Water Bottle
I didn’t purchase one of these water bottles until recently, but it has been one of my absolute wins. You can easily squeeze it up and chuck it in your carry-on when you’re not using it, as well as smoosh it into whatever bag you’re carrying around during the day when you explore.
